State Highlights

As a local controlled state, Maryland encourages LEAs to embrace blended learning, personalized learning and 1:1 initiatives in the classroom.

As of 2014, online student enrollment numbers have increased from 627 to 4,687 over the past two years.

Requests from districts and vendors resulted in reviews of over thirty vendor online courses since spring 2014.

Twenty district proposals were submitted for funding from the Digital Innovative Learning grant.

Multiple LEAs are broadcasting classes from one classroom synchronously to multiple locations throughout their district.
