Google Hangout: Digital Learning & Giving Students Choice

National School Choice Week starts this Sunday, Jan. 26. Last year, during National School Choice Week:

  • 3,600+ events were organized across all 50 states

  • 2,000+ news stories highlighted the Week
  • Millions of Americans participated in events and activities celebrating the Week

This hangout will bring together four education leaders to discuss how digital learning is transforming education. Please join:

Michael Horn, Co-founder and Executive Director of The Clayton Christensen Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank dedicated to improving the world through disruptive innovation.

Susan Patrick, President and CEO of  iNACOL, which works to ensure all students have access to a world-class education and quality blended and online learning opportunities.

John Bailey, Executive Director of Digital Learning Now!, a national initiative of ExcelinEd that’s focused on advancing policies that create a high-quality digital learning environment for all students.

Tom Vander Ark, CEO of Getting Smart, an education advocacy firm that is passionate about innovations in learning. Getting Smart helps education organizations construct cohesive and forward-thinking strategies for branding, awareness, advancement and communication, and public and media relations.

In the Hangout, these thought leaders will discuss the opportunities online learning presents to increase choice for students regardless of their zip code. They will highlight the unprecedented opportunities for students to access customized learning pathways, whether with individual courses and even modules, or at the whole school level.

The second half of the hour will be used to address questions posed from the Twitter back channel using the official hashtag, #SCW, using the more specific hashtag #DLchoice or on the Q&A in the Google Hangout.
